This Thanksgiving was HORRIBLE!! Erik and I went to Wesley chapel on Monday and stayed through Thursday. It was supposed to be fun. We had it all planned out. Tuesday night we stayed at our friend’s house and hung out. But around 11ish I started to feel sick so I went to lay down. Erik went to take one of our friends home and I decided to go with him, but as soon as I got in the car, uh oh…I got sick. Erik took our friend home then came back. But, as soon as he got back he got sick too!!! We were up all night sick! It was so gross. Wednesday we slept all day. Thursday, we felt better we ate a little at Erik’s parents house, then we went to my parent’s house for lunch, then went back to Erik’s parents house for dinner. After that, we went back to my parent’s house to watch Saw 5 with some friends we had in from Kentucky. After the movie, Erik and I came back to our house in St. Pete.
The whole Thanksgiving I felt like crap. I couldn’t eat hardly anything!!! It sucks to just sit there and watch everyone eat when you can’t!

Caught in the Middle
Erik and I were hanging out at my parent’s house on Sunday, and we left to go home around 10. It was about 10:30 when we started over the Howard Franklin Bridge. All of a sudden, the cars in front of me were pushing their brakes and slowing down. Now, it wasn’t just the car in my lane in front of me, it was all the cars in all other lanes as well. They slowed down and then all of a sudden you hear the cars speed up. I was like what the hell are they doing? Just as I was thinking this, two cars passed me. I could hear the hiss of their cars. Erik then explained to me that they were racing. I was caught right in the middle of Fast and the Furious!! I was a little scared but fascinated at the same time. We were about a third of the way over the bridge and they slowed down again. I looked in my rearview mirror and I saw the cars behind me slowing down as well. Then more cars would pass me and join the ones in front of me. Then, off they went!! Again, 2 thirds of the way down, they did it again. They all got off at 4th street. Erik said they were probably going out to Gandy to race. You should have seen all these cars there had to have been at least 100 or more.
It was very interesting to be caught in the middle of this display. I was definitely amused!!

the bullshit blog
Blah blah blah blah blah………….so I have no idea what to write about. So that is what my mom told me to say. Then Erik told me to write about the so called yard sale that we tried to put on. But, I wasn’t there because I had to work, so it would be hard for me to explain that in full detail. Then my mom told me to write about work…
So work, it was super busy, then got really slow. So that’s about it for work.
My mom is now giving me a dirty look… I hate those. She apparently thinks I’m immature or something because I find kids toys amusing. I mean really why weren’t these things out when I was a kid? She bought my little cousin a kid’s laptop thingy, and I was looking at it. On the screen the character that talks to you is a monkey. (In case you didn’t know already, I absolutely love monkeys!) So of course I was amused! The other one she bought him was a kid’s digital camera…oh pardon me…tough kids waterproof digital camera! This thing is ridiculous! It holds 500 pictures without a memory card. My camera holds maybe 8 without a memory card. It is waterproof up to 3 feet. Mine is waterproof up to -10 feet (meaning it better not be raining outside or I’m screwed!) So yes I think this thing is absolutely amazing!!
Ok… so that was my whole blog…thank you and goodnight!

a night at the fair
Once upon a time there was a boy and a girl. This boy and girl decided that they wanted to go to the fair that was going on at a church down the street. As they were driving to the fair, you could smell the cotton candy and deep fried food from miles away. The smell overwhelmed the girl and she wanted to get there as quick as possible! She wanted to devoir all the cotton candy that was at the fair. When they got to the fair, the boy paid for the armbands so that they could ride as many rides as they wanted all night long.
After getting the armbands, the boy and girl went to the first food station they could find and the girl got her cotton candy and the boy bought himself a Philly cheese steak. They sat down and ate while they contemplated which ride to ride first. Would it be the Gravitron? Or would it be the Ring of Fire?
As they were trying to decide which one to go on first, some friends came up and sat down. The friends said that they were headed to ride the Gravitron and asked if the boy and girl wanted to go with them. They said they would and they headed towards the Gravitron. They stood in line for two turns and it was finally time for the boy, the girl, and the friends to get on. They all found a place and the ride started. The ride started spinning, slowly at first, then getting faster and faster until the riders were suctioned to the seats. Then the ride came to an end and everyone’s body felt heavy. The boy, girl, and friends walked out and stood outside the ride’s exit. Everyone was talking at once about their own experience on the ride. A couple feet away, someone stumbled out of the exit and headed straight for the trashcan! He made a few heaving noises and came up wiping his mouth. The boy, girl, and friends all made a disgusted face and walked on to the next ride.
They rode rides and played games all night long. The boy won the girl a large teddy bear and she carried it around proudly. When it was time to go home the boy and girl said bye to the friends and walked to their car. The whole way home the boy and girl talked about their night and how much fun they had. They laughed about the good times they had, and made faces about the people who had thrown up from having a weak stomach, and at the people who screamed like little kids on the rides.
Once they got home, the girl took the large teddy bear and made a place for him on the bookshelf in the room. They went to sleep thinking and smiling about the amazing night they had had.

a little late
This blog is a little late, but I must say for a good reason. This past week was full of a lot of chaos. Tuesday morning at like 4am, we got a phone call that no one ever wants to get. Our friend’s mom who was like a second mom to us, was calling because she couldn’t get her husband to wake up. Erik tried to walk her through CPR but it was too late. Once we knew the ambulance was there, we packed a bag and went on our way. We got there in about 30-45 minutes. When we got there, we sat and comforted her as best as we could. But what do you say to someone in that situation? It’s really hard to comfort someone when all you want to do is break down yourself. But we managed it.
You see, this family was Native American. So their tribal leader came up and sat with her and we had to leave while they talked through tribal things. Erik and I went to Erik’s parent’s house to catch up on some much needed sleep. For the next week, Erik and I sat with Mamas (which is what we call her because we are so close.) When Mama’s had to go to their Tribal Village near Perry Florida, Erik and I sat at the house and watched over everything.
Erik and I were given permission to go to the Village and meet up with them on Friday. This is exactly what we did. We were honored that we were aloud to go up there and see their village and see what they do. It just so happens that we were up there right in the middle of what they call “Squirrel Dinner.” It is exactly what it says. We got lost going up to the village, which was an adventure in its own. It was so foggy and we got lost and had to stop at about 10 different places to find out where we were and which way to go. We drove in about 15 circles and drove up and down some roads at least 5 times. It was actually kind of fun. Once we got there, we were set up in our cabin which they call a chickee (I know this isn’t how it is spelled, but that is how it would be phonetically.) Then we went to see mamas, who, was down in another cabin. That night, we got a good night’s sleep. On Saturday, the men woke up early and went hunting for deer and squirrel for dinner that night. I stayed in the cabin and got some sleep because I knew that night would be a long night. Erik helped out the men when they got back. Around 1pm or so, I was woken up to go to gathering with the women. This is where they go to gather evergreens for their ceremonial square. This was a lot of fun. We had some laughs and had some good memories about papas (the man who passed away.) we piled 8 women onto a golf cart, which was a tad bit crowded to say the least. We had three on the back, one driver, one passenger, one on the front basket, and one on each side of the cart. On the way back, it was the same thing except instead of having one on each side, it was one on one side and one on the top. After getting back, they made these bouquets of evergreens, which were BEAUTIFUL.
Around 5ish, we had dinner which consisted of squirrel soup, fresh venison, fresh chicken, cornbread, green beans, and sweet potatoes. After dinner, we went into the ceremonial square for ceremony. I am not aloud to describe the ceremony, but it was really cool, and really fun. However, it was SUPER COLD. But I still had a decent time (considering what I was there for.) I was given the proper outfit to wear and was told the proper things to do. I got to go to medicine, which has been done since ancient times. I felt so honored to be able to be there and to be able to experience this.
Ceremony ended around 11pm and we headed over to the burial mound. Papas is the first Indian in his tribe since about 1500 to be able to receive the traditional burial in a traditional burial mound. It was a part of the tradition that the wife stay up all night with the ashes of the deceased husband. This is so that his spirit can pass peacefully. We tried our best to stay up all night with her, but I knew I had a long drive ahead of me the next day, and I needed some sleep. Erik and I went back to our cabin, and tried to get some sleep, but it was so ridiculously cold that we didn’t even sleep that well. You see, this village is semi new and the cabins have not been completed yet, so there still needed to be insulation and everything else, so there was nothing in there to keep it warm. Also, understand when I say cabin, I do not mean they have different bedrooms or bathrooms in them. Oh no. this cabin was one of the bigger ones and there was only 2 twin beds and a little shelf that could fit inside. The only bathroom was up at the front of the village. We were woken up around 6am the next morning and we went back to the burial mound to go through medicine again, and then say our last goodbyes, before the mound was closed up. The way the last goodbye worked was that the ashes were put into the ground and everyone went up one by one and took a handful of dirt and throw it into the hole. This was your last goodbye. It was sad, but it was closure and we all knew that he had passed peacefully. After our last goodbye, we went up and had a large breakfast.
We left to come home Sunday around 12pm and made it home around 3:30ish. While I was on my way to my parent’s house to drop off some sleeping bags that we had used, my car started making a loud cracking noise. This noise was not normal and was not good. We took the car to a shop to figure out what was wrong and found out my CV axle was broken. So we took the car to another shop and dropped it off so it would be worked on in the morning.
So my week and weekend was full of ups and downs and a lot of chaos.
So to all my friends that I missed this week I’m sorry.

The Impatient Generation?
The “Google generation” is anyone who was born after 1993 ("The “Google generation” and emerging web behavior”). The characteristics that have been given to the people of the “Google generation,” are considered to be the opposite from generations prior to the “Google generation.” These two generations have been given two specific names. The people in the “Google generation” are called digital natives. The other generations are called digital immigrants.
The terms digital natives and digital immigrants are newer terms used to describe the differences between the generations. The digital natives are considered to be impatient because they like to receive information quickly. They like to multitask and don’t like to read text, but will look at pictures, sounds and videos before even looking at the text. This group also likes to work in groups rather than alone. Digital immigrants on he other hand like their information to come in small segments. They only like to single task, and will process the text before looking at pictures, audio, or sound. People in this generation also like to work alone.
The characteristics that are given to the “Google generation” make the generation look lazy and impatient. But, are all these things really negative? Why is being able to multitask a bad thing? When you multitask, as you learn one thing, it can be triggered by the other event that you are doing. For example, if I am studying my psychology, as I am cleaning my room, something might remind me of a psychology term. Then when I am on class taking my exam, I might think of that item and that item would then trigger the word or definition that I would need for my exam. Multitasking also works different parts of the brain at the same time. This could help our brains become more evolved.
Another characteristic given to the “Google generation” is that they like to look at pictures, audio, and videos before processing any text. Again, why is this such a bad thing? Pictures, audio, and videos give insight into what the text is about, so if the pictures, audio, or video looks useful, then the text might be worth taking a look at. But if the picture, audio, or video is completely off topic then the text isn’t worth looking at. This is a characteristic that is good for this generation because the “Google generation” is said have a shorter attention span in comparison to previous generation. So this is a characteristic that works in the “Google generation” because it does not take hours upon hours to read something that isn’t even worth while. Where as in the generations that like to read and process text before anything else, they will read a full paper and it is not pertinent to what they are doing, all that time was wasted.
The third characteristic that is given to the “Google generation” is that they like to work in groups. Why is it a bad thing that the people in this generation like to socialize? By working with others and not alone, the people learn to become more social. The people of this generation will become more able to associate with other people in different situations. Where as people of previous generations might be a little more timid about being in large social gatherings.
So just because the “Google generation” has some negative attributes given to them, does not mean they are not as smart as the previous generations. But just that they have learned to use different parts of their brain to work in their advantage.

FRIENDS
This blog is dedicated to my friends that I have made in college. Rachel, Amy, and Deb. BAY-SEE-CA-LEY, you all are absolutely amazing and I don’t know what I would do if we hadn’t become friends!
First of all, Rachel, you are so CRAZY it is awesome. You bring out the extroverted side of me. (Which, by the way, only comes out when I’m around people who I consider true friends.) There have been so many fun times so far, and I know there will be so many more to come, especially in the classes we have now. Oh, by the way, you know how sometimes you have two eyes? And, I’m glad your rock likes having us in her class…lol.. J
Amy, you are the one who I can always count on to give me the update on politics. Even if some of your views are a little one sided (and you know they are) it is still very interesting to hear your point of view. I just really want to say thank you for getting me addicted to Tetris. Oh, Herpes, no big deal!!
Deb, you always keep me guessing. I never know what is going to come out of your mouth next. But I know it will make me wander. We can always have an interesting conversation with you, even if we don’t always agree. So, Deb, why are your pants off? LOL…
